With the transition to the digital economy, new challenges and opportunities are opening up for our country, changing the usual approaches to business and interaction in the domestic and foreign markets. The main ruble, which is a treasury note, followed by gold-currency reserves, is now adjacent to a digital one based on blockchain technology. And if initially we had only one character, now it’s probably time for two.
In the process of developing the typeface of the ruble, we settled on two variants: one based on the Latin letter «Z», and the other on the Russian letter «Z» or the number «three». Each of them has its own advantages and may be perceived differently by different audiences, so we have not been able to make a final choice.
Now that we have two rubles, it is logical to think about it: shouldn’t we use both signs? This solution will eliminate confusion, allowing you to immediately understand which ruble is used in the context. One symbol can stand for the traditional ruble, and the other for its digital counterpart, which will help people navigate the world of finance more easily. It also makes sense to consider the possibility of using different signs for different markets. For example, a sign based on the letter «Z» can be used in the international arena, while another one can remain for domestic use.
Simply adding another sign can become a symbol of a new division in the economy, where physical and digital rubles coexist like two friends, each of which solves its own task. It is quite possible that soon the need to distinguish between them will become not just a desire, but also a requirement of time. The digital ruble, like a new star in the financial firmament, promises flexibility, speed and the possibility of successful entry into the international arena, which in the face of modern challenges is not just important, but vital. While the traditional ruble, as a familiar sign of our economy and culture, will remain the foundation, the symbol of our wealth, tempered by the experience of centuries.
We think that our signs can become an organic reflection of this symbiosis. Speaking of new typeface signs, it’s like we’re drawing on a blank canvas, choosing between the letter «Z», which formed the basis of new meanings, and the Russian letter «Z», which embodies the richness of traditions. These two signs can become symbols of the double strength of our ruble: one that stands firmly on the ground, and the other that aspires to new heavens.
So is it worth limiting yourself to one typeface for two different rubles? Or will using two options open up new horizons for using the symbol of our national currency? We do not insist on this solution, but we offer it as an interesting idea for discussion. In a world where trends are constantly changing, it is important to be open to new ideas. Two rubles — two characters? Why not?
