The approval of the ruble symbol is one of the functions of the Bank of Russia in accordance with Article 4 of the Federal Law “On the Central Bank of the Russian Federation (Bank of Russia)”.
More than 61% of participants in the public discussion, held from November 5 to December 5, 2013 on the website of the Central Bank of the Russian Federation, previously spoke in favor of the ruble symbol approved by the Bank of Russia.
